The Screaming Moon EP CD Packaging Design
For this self released EP I wanted to incorporate a hand made Dada feel for the cover, I wanted to create a fictitious night scape using the building where Ruth Ellis once lived at in Rhyl and an oversized full moon with the ‘screaming face’. For the letters I used single letter stickers and superimposed the scan of that over the scan of the collage I made for the main image. To create the way the image looked I photocopied them a number of times to get a really grainy effect and cut and glued them together on a black background before scanning.
For the inlay I used a polaroid of the microphone I used to record the EP with as well as a portrait photo taken by Megan Jones which I edited to remove the background. The idea was that I was looking up at ‘The Screaming Moon’ as described in the title track.
The back cover features a photograph I took at Aberdaron late one night in a stormy walk to the beach. I really liked the juxtaposition of the graveyard, the houses and the road to the sea/beach as well as how the photo came out with all the rain on the lens. I felt it was the perfect photograph to go on the sleeve as it illustrates a number of themes in the song.
